In the early hours of Wednesday, gunshots were fired at the home of a BNP leader in Shreepur, Gazipur.
The incident happened around 12:30 AM on Tuesday night in Pathantek, a village in Baromi Union.
The house belongs to Mahmoodul Hasan, who is the vice-president of the Baromi Union BNP, and his son, Kamrul Islam, is a member of the youth wing, Jubo Dal.
Kamrul Islam and his family were sleeping when they suddenly heard loud gunshots.
They woke up to find that the glass of one of their windows had been shattered by a bullet. A few moments later, another window was hit by gunfire, followed by a third shot.
The family members were terrified, and the gunfire stopped after about 30 minutes, around 1:00 AM.
When they checked, they found that the bullets had gone through the window and into the room. One bullet even got stuck in the fabric of their sofa.
Kamrul Islam said, "We don’t know why this happened or who fired the shots. We are scared, and we will talk to other party members about what to do next."
After receiving the call, police from Shreepur station went to the house to investigate.
They found the spent bullet shells at the scene.
The police have said they will look into the matter and take legal action if needed.
