The government has imposed strict new security measures at the Bangladesh Secretariat, the administrative heart of the country, prohibiting all forms of rallies, meetings, and public gatherings inside the premises.
According to a notification issued on Tuesday by the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs, any presence inside the Secretariat after 6:00 pm will now require prior notification to the ministry.
The circular, signed by Joint Secretary Md Jasim Uddin, stressed that the safety of every building within the Secretariat compound is of utmost importance.
To maintain constant discipline and security, several new rules have been put in place.
These include a ban on all unauthorized meetings in conference rooms of ministries or departments, as well as gatherings of professional bodies or associations.
Additionally, officials and employees must display their entry passes visibly at all times, and no leaflets, banners, or festoons may be distributed or placed anywhere within the compound.
On weekends or public holidays, staying inside the Secretariat for official purposes will require prior approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Security personnel will also ensure thorough checks of vehicles and individuals entering the premises.
The ministry has directed that all these instructions be strictly followed.
