Hearing on March 30 in defamation case against ex-GCC mayor Jahangir

The hearing in the defamation case against ousted Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) mayor Jahangir Alam will be held on 30 March.

Judge Md. Kaysarul Islam of Gazipur Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court passed the order on Sunday.

Earlier on the day, Jahangir Alam appeared before the court around 11 am. Hearing arguments of both parties the court fixed 30 March to conduct the next hearing.

“False and fabricated allegations have been brought against me. I wish, no one is harassed with false case. Not only me, any commoners should not face such case. Whoever files any case, should uphold the truth,” Jahangir Alam said while exiting the court premises.

On 28 November last year, Md. Atiq Mahmud, a resident in the city, filed the case against the former GCC mayor Jahangir Alam.
