Four more children have died with measles-like symptoms in the country over the past 24 hours. However, no confirmed measles-related deaths were recorded during this period. With this, the total number of deaths linked to measles and measles-like symptoms has risen to 712.
The information was disclosed on Sunday in a statement from the Directorate General of Health Services. The data covers the 24-hour period from 8:00 a.m. Saturday to 8:00 a.m. Sunday. Among the recent deaths, two were reported in Dhaka Division, while one each occurred in Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.
According to health authorities, confirmed measles deaths stand at 93, while 619 deaths were recorded with measles-like symptoms.
Since March 15, a total of 99,207 children have shown measles-like symptoms, while 11,710 cases of confirmed Measles have been reported. This brings the total number of affected children, including both confirmed and suspected cases, to 110,917.
During the same period, 82,844 children with symptoms have been admitted to hospitals, of whom 79,152 have recovered and returned home.
In the last 24 hours alone, 889 children were admitted to hospitals with measles, while 865 have been discharged after recovery.
