The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has increased gold prices in the domestic market by Tk 5,482 per bhori, pushing the price of 22-carat gold to Tk 2,28,556 per bhori.
The revised rates took effect from 10:00am on Saturday, according to a Bajus circular.
The association said the latest adjustment was prompted by an increase in the price of pure (tejabi) gold in the local market.
Under the new pricing structure, 21-carat gold now costs Tk 2,18,292 per bhori, up Tk 5,249, while the price of 18-carat gold has risen by Tk 4,490 to Tk 1,87,440 per bhori.
The price of traditional (sanatan) gold has also been raised by Tk 3,674 to Tk 1,53,148 per bhori.
Bajus said the updated rates will remain effective at jewellery shops across the country until further notice. Making charges will continue to be charged separately depending on the design, while VAT is already included in the retail price and cannot be collected again from customers.
The association said existing rules regarding the exchange and purchase of jewellery will remain unchanged. It added that a separate decision on VAT for silver ornaments will be announced later.
The previous price revision came on June 25, when Bajus reduced the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 2,216 per bhori.
Saturday`s revision marks the 82nd adjustment to gold prices this year, including 41 increases, 40 reductions and one VAT-related revision.
Bajus also raised silver prices. The price of 22-carat silver increased by Tk 175 to Tk 4,666 per bhori, while 21-carat, 18-carat and traditional silver were priced at Tk 4,432, Tk 3,791 and Tk 2,858 per bhori, respectively.
So far in 2026, silver prices have been revised 50 times, with 25 increases and 25 decreases.
