Home Minister calls for ACC probe into allegations of corruption during interim govt

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed on Sunday called for a comprehensive investigation into all allegations of corruption during the 18-month tenure of the interim government, urging the chief adviser to direct the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to carry out the probe.

Speaking during the discussion on the proposed budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year in parliament, the minister said those who are demanding accountability over corruption and foreign borrowing should welcome such an investigation.

"Let the ACC determine where corruption took place, how it happened, and who was responsible," he said.

Referring to a recent report by Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), Salahuddin claimed that allegations of corruption had been raised regarding the interim government‍‍`s tenure and said the claims should be investigated thoroughly.

Responding to remarks made earlier in the parliamentary debate, the home minister also questioned Jamaat-e-Islami‍‍`s role during the Liberation War and whether the party could genuinely be considered a religious political party.
