As the diplomatic tension between Bangladesh and India continues to simmer, a significant meeting is set to take place today in Muscat, Oman.

Bangladesh’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Touhid Hossain and India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar are expected to sit down for talks on the sidelines of the Indian Ocean Conference.

This meeting holds particular importance, as any progress in the discussions could open the door for a high-level meeting between Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor Professor Yunus and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This potential meeting is expected to take place during the BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok, scheduled from April 2 to 4.

The outcome of today‍‍`s discussions could pave the way for more constructive dialogue in the future.

Tensions between Dhaka and Delhi have been ongoing since August 5, when the government was overthrown, prompting Sheikh Hasina to leave the country.

Efforts to facilitate her return, alongside other key issues, have strained the relationship between the two neighboring countries.

The situation became even more delicate following the recent Trump-Modi meeting in the United States, which added another layer of complexity to the diplomatic standoff.

Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri shared that Bangladesh’s issues were raised during the meeting with the U.S. President, indicating that the situation has drawn the attention of major global players.

As all eyes turn to Oman, today‍‍`s meeting between Touhid Hossain and Jaishankar is being closely watched for signs of progress, as the outcome could have significant implications for the relationship between Bangladesh and India moving forward.
