Former Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) mayor Sayeed Khokon has claimed that, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) directed to freeze 8 bank accounts belong to him and his family members as the running mayor Fazle Noor Taposh pushed for an investigation.
Expressing anger Sayeed Khokon said, ‘What will you cash hitting me?"
After court directed to freeze Khokon and his family’s bank accounts the former mayor called on a press conference at Jatiya Press Club on Tuesday (June 29).
“Eight bank accounts belonging to me and members of my family have been frozen,” Khokon said.
“These accounts had a total balance of around Tk 76,272,603. The ACC did not give my family any notice and has frozen these accounts without giving us a chance to defend ourselves,” he went saying.
Khokon accused Taposh of ‘failing to manage the city and is pursuing this malicious course of action against me to cover up his boundless inadequacy’.
The running mayor Taposh opted to keep silence on the issue which is ‘matter of court’s concern’.
“This issue is between the court and the Anti-Corruption Commission. Mayor Fazle Noor Taposh is uninterested to give a reply or reaction over the matter which is under trial,” the mayor’s public relations department said in a statement.
