A Malaysian Airlines flight made an emergency landing at the capital's Shahjalal International Airport amid fears of a bomb inside the aircraft.
The flight landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 9:40 pm on Wednesday (December 1).
Group Captain AHM Touhid-ul Ahsan told the media, "We are searching the plane and every passenger onboard. So far no bombs or bomb-like objects have been found inside the aircraft. We will be able to give details in this regard after the completion of the search process.
According to airport sources, members of the fire service, various law enforcement agencies and members of the air force have been deployed at the airport.
Members of the law enforcement forces have taken a cautious stand at Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal Airport following reports of a bomb on a Malaysian Airlines plane. A search of the plane has already begun, a top Dhaka police official said.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Shafiqul Islam said: At around 10:30 pm on Wednesday a news had spread that a passenger on a Malaysian plane had a bomb. A search was launched immediately afterwards the plane landed at Hazrat Shah Jalal Airport.
When asked regarding this, RAB Director (Operations) Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Iftekhar Uddin said at 11:00 pm, the members of the Air Force Bomb Recovery and Deactivation Team are searching inside the aircraft. The search is still on.
