Authorities have completed all preparations for the main Eid-ul-Azha congregation at the National Eidgah in Dhaka, with thousands of worshippers expected to attend prayers on Thursday morning.

State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam said the venue is fully prepared to host the Eid congregation, where President Mohammed Shahabuddin, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Chief Justice Zubair Rahman Chowdhury, cabinet members, diplomats, political leaders and worshippers are expected to join the prayers.

Speaking after inspecting the venue on Wednesday, the minister said the Eid jamaat will begin at 7:30am at the National Eidgah ground.

He said around 35,000 devotees, including both men and women, will be able to offer prayers at the venue.

Separate prayer spaces and ablution facilities have also been arranged for women.

The minister urged worshippers to arrive early due to security measures put in place around the Eidgah area.

Officials from Dhaka South City Corporation and Dhaka Metropolitan Police were present during the inspection, including DSCC Administrator Abdus Salam and DMP Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed.

Authorities said extensive arrangements have been made at the Eidgah, including installation of fans, lighting systems and microphones.

Mats and carpets have also been spread across the prayer ground, while a large protective pandal has been set up over the area.

DSCC Administrator Abdus Salam said preparations were also taken to ensure the congregation can continue even if rain occurs during the prayers.

He said the covered arrangements inside the Eidgah would help protect worshippers from rain, although authorities may announce alternative arrangements if severe weather or flooding affects the venue.

Special security and crowd management measures have also been introduced for the congregation. A separate entrance has been designated for VVIPs through the Supreme Court side, while four main gates will be used for public entry.

Authorities said three additional gates on the northern side of the Eidgah will remain open to help worshippers leave the venue smoothly after prayers.

A dedicated entrance and separate facilities for women have also been arranged as part of the overall preparations.
