AMM Nasir Uddin has officially taken office as the new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of Bangladesh, along with four newly appointed Election Commissioners.
The ceremony took place today at the Supreme Court, where the new officials took their oaths in front of Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed.
The event, held at the SC Judges` Lounge at 1:30 pm, was also attended by judges from the Appellate Division, members of the search committee that recommended the new commissioners, Election Commission officials, and Supreme Court staff.
SC Registrar General Aziz Ahmed Bhuiyan conducted the ceremony.
Earlier, on November 21, President Mohammed Shahabuddin appointed AMM Nasir Uddin, a former government secretary, as the Chief Election Commissioner, along with the four other commissioners.
The appointments were made under Section 118(1) of the Constitution, with official gazette notifications issued by the Cabinet Division.
The new Election Commission was formed based on the recommendations of a six-member search committee.
