Sharif Osman bin Hadi, a prominent figure of the July Uprising, convenor of Inqilab Moncho and a prospective candidate for the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election, has passed away. He died on Thursday while undergoing medical treatment in Singapore.
The news was confirmed Thursday night through an announcement on the official Facebook page of Inqilab Moncho . The statement read, “The great revolutionary Osman Hadi has been recognized as a martyr (Shahid) by Allah for his struggle against Indian imperialism.”
Hadi sustained critical injuries on December 12 after being shot by assailants while traveling in a rickshaw near the water tank area of Bijoynagar in Dhaka. According to reports, two individuals on a motorcycle approached his rickshaw, and one of them opened fire at close range before fleeing the scene.
He was first taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital and was later shifted to Evercare Hospital, where he received advanced ICU care before being transferred abroad for further treatment.
