The first session of the 13th National Parliament will continue until April 30, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said at 2:45 pm on Saturday after the first meeting of the Working Advisory Committee of the parliament.
He said the session will be adjourned until March 28 after tomorrow and will resume on March 29, continuing until April 30.
The meeting, which began at 12:30 pm, was presided over by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, who is also the chairman of the committee. It was attended by the Leader of the House and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, along with other committee members.
The committee discussed the agenda and time frame of the first parliamentary session. According to the decision, the session will start at 3 pm daily except on public holidays and conclude on April 30.
A total of 50 hours of discussion time has been allocated for the President`s address, and the Speaker has the authority to adjust the session’s timing and working days if needed.
The Parliament Secretariat reported that 468 questions have been submitted for the session, including 8 for the Prime Minister and 460 for other ministers. In addition, 27 notices of attention under Rule-71 and 97 notices of decision proposals under Rule-131 were received.
The meeting was attended by committee members including opposition leader Md. Shafiqur Rahman, MP; Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, MP; Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, MP; Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, MP; Chief Whip Md. Nurul Islam, MP; Law Minister Md. Asaduzzaman, MP; ATM Azharul Islam, MP; Opposition Chief Whip Md. Nahid Islam, MP; and Muhammad Nowshad Zamir, MP.
Deputy Speaker Barrister Kaiser Kamal, MP also participated at the special invitation of the Speaker.
