The body of a Bangladeshi migrant worker who was killed in a missile attack in Iraq has been brought back to the country, with government officials receiving the remains at Dhaka airport early Friday.
Mohammad Shraban, a Bangladeshi expatriate from Munshiganj, was killed in Baghdad amid escalating regional tensions involving Iran, Israel and the United States, according to officials.
A Turkish Airlines flight carrying his body landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 4:45am.
The repatriation process was coordinated by the Bangladesh Embassy in Baghdad.

Officials said he died when a missile struck an area of the Iraqi capital during the ongoing conflict in the region.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the body was transported from Baghdad International Airport on May 27 and flown to Dhaka via Türkiye before arriving in Bangladesh.
After the completion of immigration and airport formalities, the body was handed over to family members.
The government also provided financial assistance to support the family.
The state minister handed over Tk 35,000 for transportation and burial expenses, along with a special grant of Tk 50,000 and additional support available for the victim’s family.
