The government has once again directed that all shopping malls, markets, and shops across the country close by 7 pm as part of electricity-saving measures. The earlier decision to keep them open until 10 pm during Eid to facilitate shopping has been withdrawn, and the previous directive has been reinstated.

However, cinema halls and multiplexes have been excluded from this restriction.

Confirming the matter, Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, Chief Marketing Officer of Star Cineplex, said, “Although shopping malls will close at 7 pm, cinemas will remain open. We have received an official letter from the Ministry of Information on this matter. As a result, there will be no obstacle for audiences to watch Eid films at Star Cineplex and other multiplexes.”

Meanwhile, Awlad Hossain Ujjal, President of the Film Exhibition Owners’ Association, said that an application had been submitted to the Ministry of Information ahead of Eid, requesting that cinema halls and cineplexes be kept outside the scope of the mall closure order.

He said, “We had already requested the Ministry of Information to exclude cinema halls and cineplexes from the shopping mall closure directive. The ministry has approved our request in a response letter. Therefore, audiences need not worry about cinemas located within shopping malls.”

As a result, there will be no restrictions on audiences visiting cinemas and multiplexes to watch newly released Eid films.

It is worth noting that eight films have been released in theatres this Eid. These include Rockstar, Roid, Banalata Sen, Malik, Pinik, Officer, Masud Rana, and Tosnos.
