6 more children die with measles-like symptoms in 24 hours

Six more children have died with measles-like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours. However, no deaths from laboratory-confirmed measles were reported during the same period. As a result, the total number of deaths linked to confirmed measles and suspected measles cases since March 15 has risen to 594.

The information was disclosed in a report released on Tuesday (June 2) by the Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

According to the report, no deaths from confirmed measles were recorded between 8:00 a.m. Monday and 8:00 a.m. Tuesday. During that period, six deaths were reported among children showing symptoms consistent with measles.

DGHS data show that since March 15, a total of 90 people have died from confirmed measles, while 504 deaths have been reported among suspected measles cases.

During the same period, 9,136 confirmed measles cases have been recorded nationwide. The number of suspected measles cases has reached 73,362.

Meanwhile, 59,106 people have been hospitalized with suspected measles since March 15. Of them, 54,812 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
