Police have strengthened surveillance at key transport hubs in Patuakhali to ensure safe and smooth travel for passengers during Eid-ul-Fitr.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Barishal Range Mostafizur Rahman said enhanced security measures have been put in place across highways, bus terminals and launch ghats in the district.
He made the remarks while speaking to reporters at a local bus terminal following a surprise visit to assess the law and order situation.
According to the DIG, Barishal Range Police and Patuakhali District Police have adopted a coordinated operational plan to manage the anticipated Eid travel rush and prevent harassment of passengers.
He said special drives are also underway to curb crimes such as theft, robbery, pickpocketing and mugging.
Police are also monitoring the activities of organised criminal groups locally known as ‘Molom Party’ and ‘Oggyan Party’.
“Our priority is to ensure people can travel safely and without disruption during Eid. Police members have been deployed with heightened vigilance,” he said.
Senior police officials, transport leaders and local journalists were present during the briefing.
