In a show of solidarity and sympathy, State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak has bought a chador that was burnt in the devastating fire at Bangabazar for Tk 40,000.
It comes through an initiative by Ekushey Padak winning organisation Bidyanondo Foundation.
The exchange occurred during distribution of iftar among underprivileged people organised by Bidyanondo Foundation on Thursday evening.
At least 5,000 businessmen were reportedly affected by the fire in Bangabazar market on Tuesday. The fire caused an estimated loss of Tk 1,000 crore. "They now need some financial and emotional support," the junior minister added.
He also said that money is not important, the important thing is that "we are beside the businessmen".
The state minister urged everyone to stand by the helpless small businessmen of Bangabazar as per their ability.
