Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today congratulated the Bangladesh National Cricket Team for clinching its first-ever One Day International (ODI) series victory against Australia.
The premier expressed hope that Bangladesh`s success in international cricket would continue in the future and make the country`s young generation more interested in sports, said the Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Mostafa Zulfiquar Hasan (Hasan Shiplu).
Tarique Rahman said that by maintaining team unity, discipline and self-confidence, the Bangladesh cricket team would achieve even greater success on the world stage.
He extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the players, coaching staff and all those associated with this achievement.
Bangladesh defeated Australia by five wickets under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method in the second ODI at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur in the city this evening.
With the victory, the Tigers clinched the series with one match remaining. Earlier, Bangladesh won the first ODI at the same venue by 86 runs, also under the DLS method.
