The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has once again increased gold prices in the domestic market. The price of 22-carat gold has been raised by Tk 2,216 per bhori, setting the new rate at Tk 223,074 per bhori (11.664 grams), including VAT.
BAJUS announced the revised prices in a statement issued on Monday morning. The new rates came into effect at 10:00 a.m. on Monday.
According to the association, the price of pure gold (acid-tested gold) has increased in the local market. Taking the overall market situation into account, BAJUS has revised gold prices, including VAT.
Under the new price list, the price of 22-carat gold has been set at Tk 223,074 per bhori. The price of 21-carat gold is now Tk 213,043 per bhori, while 18-carat gold will cost Tk 182,950 per bhori. Gold made under the traditional method has been priced at Tk 149,474 per bhori.
BAJUS said the revised prices will remain effective at all jewellery stores across the country until further notice. However, making charges will vary depending on the design of the jewellery. As VAT is already included in the retail price of gold and silver ornaments, customers cannot be charged VAT separately. The association also said its existing rules for jewellery exchange and buyback transactions—excluding applicable VAT, making charges, and the value of any gemstones—will remain unchanged.
Previously, on July 24, BAJUS reduced the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 3,324 per bhori, bringing it down to Tk 220,858 per bhori, including VAT. At that time, 21-carat gold was priced at Tk 210,943 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk 181,200 per bhori, and traditional-method gold at Tk 148,016 per bhori.
So far this year, gold prices in Bangladesh have been adjusted 95 times. Of those, prices were increased on 46 occasions, reduced 48 times, and VAT was adjusted once. By comparison, in 2025, gold prices were revised 93 times, with 64 increases and 29 reductions.
