The district commissioner (dc) conference 2026, an important platform for direct communication between the field administration and the government, has begun.

The conference was inaugurated on Sunday morning at the osmani memorial auditorium in the capital by prime minister tarek rahman.

At around 10:30 a.m., the prime minister walked from the secretariat to the osmani memorial auditorium and formally inaugurated the four-day conference, which will continue until may 6.

This year, divisional commissioners from all eight divisions and deputy commissioners from all 64 districts are participating in the conference. The event is held every year to discuss government policies, development activities, and various public-interest proposals from the field administration, as well as to provide guidance and make decisions.

Earlier on saturday (may 2), cabinet secretary md. nasimul gani briefed the media at the secretariat, presenting details of the conference.

He said that a total of 1,729 proposals were submitted from the field administration ahead of the event. After scrutiny, 498 proposals were included in the working papers, with the highest number—44 proposals—related to the health services division.

He also said that a total of 34 working sessions will be held during the conference.

According to the cabinet division, during the conference, divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners will pay courtesy calls and hold discussions with the president, the speaker of parliament, and the chief justice. From these meetings, they will receive necessary guidance for conducting field-level administration.

In addition, separate working sessions are expected to be held with the chief election commissioner and other election commissioners, as well as with the anti-corruption commission (acc).
