Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina thanked Jatiya Party (JaPa) for playing a constructive and positive role in parliamentary democracy.
She extended the gratitude when the leaders of Jatiya Party paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Gono Bhaban on Tuesday.
They discussed various issues including the party's determination to uphold democracy in the country.
Raushan Ershad, opposition leader of the Parliament; GM Quader, deputy leader of opposition and JP chairman; and Rahgir Almahi Ershad, son of Hussain Muhammad Ershad went on behalf of Jatiya Party, according to a press release issued by the press wing of Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
During the meeting, leaders of the Jaitiya Party said that a stable democratic system remains functional in the country challenging many hurdles in light with the spirit of the Great Liberation War.
The people of the country are getting the benefit of the system and positive changes have been made in every sector, the JP leaders said.
They assured that Jatiya Party would play an effective role both in the parliament and outside of it as the main opposition party.
