Polls have opened at 708 union parishads (UPs) for the fifth phase election.
Voters lined up in long queue amid intensive cold.
Starting from 8am in the morning the voting will continue till 4pm without any break.
The voting is being held in Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) at various centres in 40 UPs.
“As many as 1 crore 42 lakh 20 thousand 195 people will exercise their suffrage. A total of 36 thousand 457 candidates are vying for various posts. Of them, 3 thousand 274 aspirants are running for chairman posts while 7 thousand 950 in reserved seat and 25 thousand 233 for member posts,” Election Commission (EC) joint secretary Asaduzzaman told the media.
The EC sources said, movement of motorbikes have been restricted in the polling areas. The ban will be underway from Monday midnight till 12am Thursday.
