Due to the reduced supply of liquefied natural gas from Moheshkhali terminal, power generation has also decreased, resulting in nationwide load-shedding in many areas today.
According to data from the Bangladesh Power Grid Company, the country saw up to 700MW of load-shedding till evening.
In a Facebook post, the Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources said, the power generation reduced due to the interruption in the LNG supply from the Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) in Moheshkhali.
"The ministry is trying to resolve the issue as soon as possible," it read.
Certain areas may experience power outages as a result of the incident.
"We sincerely apologise for the temporary inconvenience to our valued customers," it added.
According to PGCB data, the country produced approximately 8,916MW of power at around 2:00pm today, against a demand of nearly 9,640MW.
Gas supply from the FSRU has resumed, but has yet to reach the planned level, according to Petrobangla officials.
