The two city corporations of the capital on Sunday night claimed to have removed cent percent wastes of animals, well ahead of the deadline their authorities had fixed.
The state-run BSS, citing the press statements, reported that the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) removed cent percent wastes of animals in just 9 hours.
However, it took the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) an hour less to do the same.
DSCC cleaners began works to remove the wastes from city streets under 58 wards at 2pm and completed works at around 11pm.
A total of 7,139 metric tonnes of animal wastes have been removed the areas of DSCC.
Meanwhile, DNCC cleaners began works to remove the wastes from city streets at 2pm and completed it at around 9.30 pm.
On the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, as many as 12,47000 cattle were slaughtered in 10 zones under DNCC. Around 9,000 metric tonnes of wastes have been removed.
According to waste removal report of DNCC, 100 percent wastes have been removed from 50 wards out of 54 under the corporation while collection of all wastes have been completed from rest of four wards and now wastes are being transferred to landfill.
Dhaka north mayor Atiqul Islam visited waste removal programme in different areas and directly supervised it.
Both the city corporation authorities had earlier vowed to get the job done in 12 hours separately.
However, another news agency claimed that 80% of the waste of sacrificial animals was removed from the DNCC, with 11 wards of the city corporation managing to completely get rid of waste the waste.
