Saima Wazed Putul has been formally designated by the World Health Organization (WHO) as the regional director for Southeast Asia for the ensuing five years, commencing on February 1.
The recently designated regional director may be reappointed once.
In a clossed-door0 meeting held on November 1, 2023, during its 76th session in New Delhi, India, the WHO South-East Asia Regional Committee elected Saima Wazed as the organization`s new regional director.
Earlier, Saima was nominated by the Government of Bangladesh for the post of regional director of WHO SEARO.
