The northern tip of Bangladesh is experiencing a severe cold spell, with Tetulia in Panchagarh district recording the season`s lowest temperature of 8.9°C on Wednesday — the first time the mercury has fallen below 10°C this winter.
The persistent chill has heightened residents’ discomfort, as frosty mornings contrast sharply with relatively warmer afternoons. Meteorologists warn that such fluctuations could continue and intensify in the coming days.
Meanwhile, Teknaf in the southeast recorded the country’s highest temperature at 31.4°C, highlighting the stark north-south divide in weather conditions, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
The BMD forecast, issued at 9:00 am, predicts generally dry weather with temporarily partly cloudy skies across most regions over the next 24 hours. Light fog is expected in some areas during early mornings. Night temperatures may drop slightly, while daytime readings are likely to remain steady.
In Dhaka, the sun is expected to set at 5:12 pm today and rise at 6:31 am tomorrow.
