The World Food Programme (WFP) of the United Nations has reversed its decision to reduce food aid for the Rohingya and is now allocating $12 per person monthly.

On Thursday, March 27, Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC) Mohammad Mizanur Rahman confirmed this information, according to The Daily Star.

He stated that $12 per month is being allocated for Rohingya refugees in Cox’s Bazar, and $13 for those in Bhasan Char.

Mizanur Rahman mentioned that WFP informed about this decision through a letter.

The RRRC further added that despite the funding crisis, WFP has assured that food aid will remain the same.

“This decision will help maintain the food security and nutritional standards of the Rohingya,” he said.

Earlier, WFP had announced that due to a funding crisis, the monthly food allocation for the Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh would be reduced from $12.50 to $6 per person starting in April.

On March 5, RRRC had received WFP‍‍`s letter regarding the reduction of food aid.
