In the last part of Poush, winter seems to disappear suddenly. However, the Meteorological Department said that the temperature will start falling rapidly from next Monday (January 3).
The cold spell may start from Tuesday. The meteorological department said that the cold wave is coming in the northern part of the country.
Meanwhile, in the last week, meteorologists have identified warm water vapor from the Arabian Sea which triggered a rise in temperature in different parts of the country, including the capital.
They say it is unusual for this warm western low pressure to remain active inside the country for about 10 days in January.
January is supposed to be the coldest month of the year. But, there is hardly any cold in the country due to the clouds coming from the Arabian Sea.
Meteorologist Bazlur Rashid said temperatures could start falling sharply from Monday night. The cold wave is expected to begin in the north on Tuesday. But it will not be too strong.
Weathermen said that if the situation is normal, the severe cold wave may come towards the end of this month. That can last for several days. The country has not yet faced a severe cold wave in the winter that started in mid-November.
According to the Meteorological Department, the lowest temperature in the country yesterday was 11.8 degree Celsius in Badalgachi, Naogaon. The temperature in Dhaka dropped to 18.6 degree Celsius. Night and day temperatures may remain unchanged across the country. Light to moderate fog may fall on the river banks.
