Good news for tourists! Starting tomorrow (Thursday), you can visit four upazilas in Bandarban, as the travel restrictions have been lifted.
This was announced today by the District Commissioner, Shah Mojahid Uddin, during a press conference at 12:00 PM.
The upazilas where tourists can now go include Bandarban Sadar, Chimbuk, Nilgiri, Lama, Naikhongchhari, and Alikadam.
The decision to open these areas for tourism came after a meeting of the District Core Committee on Tuesday.
The press conference was attended by important officials like the Superintendent of Police Shahidul Kausar, Additional District Commissioner SM Manjurul Alam, and army and border security officers.
Leaders from the hotel and transport industries were also there.
District Commissioner Shah Mojahid Uddin explained that the restrictions were first put in place on October 8 due to safety concerns.
After talking with local leaders and experts, the committee decided that the situation had improved enough to lift the ban in certain areas.
So now, tourists can freely visit Bandarban Sadar, Lama, Naikhongchhari, Alikadam, Chimbuk Hill, and Nilgiri from tomorrow.
However, the areas of Ruma, Thanchi, and Roangchhari are still being closely watched. Authorities will make a decision about tourism there depending on how things develop.
So, if you’ve been waiting to visit Bandarban, you’re in luck! The doors are open again in many popular areas, but always stay updated about any changes.
