By a week of launching, the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has stopped selling e-SIMs of Robi Axiata Limited.
The operator had not obtained approval before providing the service to customers, and this is the reason of imposing ban on the service of second largest telco in Bangladesh, notified BTRC.
BTRC Chairman Shyam Sunder Sikder said in a statement to reporters that the respective division of BTRC determined that Robi initiated the service without getting approval from commission.
"Therefore, we asked them to stop selling the e-SIM services," he said.
When contacted, Robi officials told reporters that they did not receive any letter from the BTRC.
However, they agreed that they are in talks with the BTRC about some approval issues for marketing e-SIM.
