Workers reject new  wage scale of Tk 12,500 and demand Tk 25,000

The government‍‍`s proposed minimum salary of Tk 12,500 was rejected today by the leaders of a few garment workers‍‍` platforms because they think the amount is insufficient and their expectation is not met.

The leaders of the Mojuri Briddhite Garment Sramik Andolon, a workers‍‍` platform for raising garment wages, urged that the minimum wage structure be amended and set at Tk 25,000.

During the meeting of the minimum wage board, platform leaders chanted slogans in front of the minimum wage board‍‍`s office in Dhaka.

Similarly, Sammilito Garment Sramik Federation, another platform for garment workers, has rejected the new salary structure, claiming that that amount is insufficient for textile workers.
