DU needs an academic master-plan: Dipu Moni

Dhaka University needs an academic master-plan before planning for structural one.

She remarked while speaking as the chief guest at the inter-hall public speaking competition titled ‘Amar Bangabandhu’ organized by Dhaka University Alumni Association.

The final competition held among the 18 Dhaka University hall champions.

Fatema Farzana Nirjana, resident of Bangladesh-Kuwait Moitri Hall won the title while Abu Jar Ghiffari Johnny, Haji Muhammad Muhsin Hall and Hamida Nisha of Shamsun Nahar Hall secured theire position as second and third respectively.

Dipu Moni said, “Structural master-plan should be implemented following the academic master-plan. So, I think an academic master-plan is needed before developing the structural master-plan.”

“The university should think about what it wants to do in the next 100 years. In past, the university guided us during national crisis; it can still be a pioneer in higher education,” she added.

Without soft skills, it is difficult to get a job in today’s world. Soft skills become an integral part of our culture; we have to learn them, she furthered.

President of Dhaka University Alumni Association Abul Kalam Azad Chowdhury presided over the programme. He said, the university has unplanned buildings as well as departments.
