The forest department officials caught a guy carrying 20 kg of venison from the Nilkamal region of the Sundarbans on Thursday night in Khulna.
The detainee was identified as Hiru Akon of Barguna, according to media report.
Akon, "a member of a deer poaching gang," was apprehended by a patrol team of the forest department while he and others were attempting to flee the area after sensing the forest officers' presence, according to Zahirul Islam, in-charge of Nilkamal Wildlife Sanctuary in the Sundarbans.
The team also seized a fishing boat, a gun, 19 rounds of bullets, equipment used to trap deer, and sharp weapons.
"Akon was sent to jail on Thursday and legal action will be taken against the rest," Zahirul said.
