Rain, thunderstorms likely across the country

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain in different parts of the country over the next 24 hours starting from 9am today.

In a morning bulletin, the Met Office said, Light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty/squally wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at many places over Mymensingh, Dhaka, Barishal, Chattogram & Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi & Khulna divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over Mymensingh, Chattogram & Sylhet divisions.

The bulletin added that day and night temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged across the country.

It also stated that the highest temperature on Friday was recorded at 33.5 degrees Celsius in Ishurdi under Rajshahi division, while today’s minimum temperature was 19 degrees Celsius in Tetulia and Sylhet.

Over the last 24 hours, the highest rainfall of 134 millimetres was recorded in Srimangal under Sylhet division.

The sun will set at 6:28pm today and rise at 5:23am tomorrow in Dhaka.
