Four Cumilla councilor killing case accused sent to jail after remand

Four accused in Cumilla ward councilor Md. Sohel and his aide Haripad Saha killing case have been sent to jail after five days remand on Friday.

Police claimed to have significant lead from the accused about the murder. The investigation is underway based on analyzing the information.  

The four accused are Ashikur Rahman alias Roki from Telikona area of the city, Alam and Zisa Mia from Boubazar area of Sujanagar and Masum, hails from Songraish Bakery lane.

Police sources said, the accused were brought to Cumilla district Detective Branch (DB) office on Monday after the court placed them on four-day remand which ended on Friday. They were later sent to court. And the court ordered to send them to Cumilla central jail.

The Investigation Officer of the case and DB Sub-Inspector Manjur Kader Bhuyan said, the accused gave significant information during the remand. Those are being looked into. Efforts are underway to hold number 11 accused Roni, son of Kani Mia, from Boubazar area of Sujanagar.

Sohel and Haripad were shot dead at the former’s office in the city on November 22. The firing left five people injured.

A case was filed against 11 named and 8-10 unnamed on November 23.

Out of 11 named accused, three already died in reported gunfights with law enforcers and seven others are held while one is on the run.
