Seven people died in the effects of Cyclone `Biporjoy` in India. Thousands of people in India and Pakistan are being evacuated to safer places to avoid the cyclone.
According to the reports of Indian media including Times of India, and India Today, four boys died after being washed away in the sea in Mumbai, India on Tuesday. Apart from this, three more people died in Kutch and Rajkot districts due to wall collapse and tree breaking down.
The cyclone is expected to hit the coast of India`s Gujarat and Pakistan`s Karachi on Thursday evening. According to India`s Central Meteorological Office, the wind speed of the storm is reaching 125 to 135 km per hour.
Quoting a senior Mumbai Police official, the Times of India reported that two bodies of four teenagers were found after they drowned at Juhu beach on Monday evening. Rescue operations are still on for the other two.
High waves from the Arabian Sea, heavy rainfall, and gale-force winds lashed the coastal areas of Gujarat, according to the Mumbai Meteorological Office and police. Many trees were uprooted and three people died in wall collapses in Kutch and Rajkot districts.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has started evacuating thousands of people from the coastal areas to save them from the cyclone. The Met office authorities fear that the very strong cyclone `Biporjoy` may hit Mandvi in India`s Gujarat state and the Karachi coast of South Pakistan on Thursday evening.
