Israeli airstrikes overnight in northern Gaza have killed at least 48 Palestinians, including 22 children and 15 women, according to the Indonesian Hospital in the region.

The strikes hit multiple homes in the Jabalia town and refugee camp. Video footage circulating online appeared to show numerous bodies on the hospital floor.

The Israeli military said it was reviewing the reports. Residents of Jabalia and surrounding areas had been warned to evacuate on Tuesday night following rocket fire into Israel by a Palestinian armed group.

At the UN Security Council, humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher called for urgent action to "prevent genocide" in Gaza, accusing Israel of deliberately creating inhumane conditions for civilians.

He urged Israel to lift its ongoing blockade on Gaza and criticized plans by Israel and the US to manage humanitarian aid distribution.

In response, Israel‍‍`s UN ambassador Danny Danon claimed that foreign aid was being diverted to support Hamas.

Meanwhile, US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Adam Boehler are heading to Qatar for further talks on a potential ceasefire and hostage release agreement.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned of escalating military action if Hamas does not release the remaining 58 hostages.

Separately, at least 28 people were killed in a major Israeli airstrike on the European Hospital compound in southern Gaza. Israel claimed the target was Hamas commander Mohammed Sinwar.

The military described the strike as “precise,” aimed at a command center beneath the hospital.

Gaza‍‍`s health ministry reports over 52,900 deaths since the war began on October 7, 2023.
