In Miami Beach, Florida, a U.S. citizen attempted to shoot two Israeli tourists, mistakenly believing they were Palestinians.
The shooting took place last Saturday, and the suspect, identified as 27-year-old Mordechai Brafman, was quickly arrested by local authorities.
Brafman is facing charges after reportedly telling police that, while driving his truck, he saw two individuals whom he thought were Palestinians.
He then stopped and opened fire, aiming to kill them.
One of the tourists was shot in the shoulder, and the other in the arm.
However, police later confirmed that neither of the victims was Palestinian.
They were, in fact, Israeli tourists.
The police investigation revealed that Brafman targeted the tourists because of his mistaken belief about their identity.
Both victims survived the attack, but the situation highlights a troubling rise in hate crimes, particularly since the beginning of the Israeli aggression in Gaza on October 7, 2023.
Human rights organizations have raised alarms over the increase in anti-Muslim, anti-Palestinian, and anti-Jewish violence across the United States.
In recent months, there have been other disturbing incidents, including the attempted drowning of a three-year-old Palestinian-American girl in Texas and the stabbing of a six-year-old Palestinian-American boy in Illinois.
Additionally, Jews have been attacked in various parts of the country, including Michigan, Maryland, and Chicago.
The shooting in Miami is another painful reminder of the growing tensions and hate-driven attacks, affecting innocent people based on their identity.
