Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong has urged executives to adopt a "do-or-die" mindset to tackle challenges in the AI-driven market, Yonhap News reported.

The tech giant has struggled to meet Nvidia’s high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chip demands, losing ground to rival SK hynix. In October 2024, Samsung admitted it was in a "crisis," raising concerns over its technological competitiveness.

Lee emphasized long-term investment over short-term profits, stating that survival depends on the company’s attitude toward the crisis.

Meanwhile, Samsung’s Q4 operating profit dropped by nearly one-third due to higher R&D spending. Last month, Lee was acquitted of charges related to a 2015 merger but acknowledged the company’s ongoing challenges.
