Saudi Arabia has reiterated its support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and urged the international community to ensure uninterrupted humanitarian assistance reaches Gaza.
The call came during an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council focused on the humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territory.
Speaking on behalf of the Arab Group, Saudi Arabia`s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr. Abdulaziz Alwasil, said a lasting resolution to the Middle East conflict depends on achieving a just political settlement for the Palestinian people.
He reaffirmed support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, describing it as the foundation for sustainable peace and regional stability.
The Saudi statement strongly opposed Israeli settlement activities, land seizures, forced displacement of Palestinians and attacks on civilians. It also rejected any attempts to alter the legal status of occupied Palestinian territories or Jerusalem`s religious and historical sites.
Saudi Arabia welcomed ongoing international efforts aimed at securing a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and highlighted the importance of diplomatic initiatives designed to reduce tensions and protect civilians.
The Kingdom stressed that humanitarian assistance must be delivered immediately and without obstruction, calling for a sustained flow of food, medicine and other essential supplies into the besieged enclave.
The statement also criticised the use of humanitarian aid as a political tool, arguing that assistance should never be restricted in ways that increase civilian suffering.
Saudi Arabia further urged the UN Security Council to take effective steps to uphold international law and implement relevant United Nations resolutions related to the Palestinian issue.
According to the Kingdom, protecting Palestinian civilians and advancing efforts toward a comprehensive peace settlement remain essential for achieving long-term security and stability across the region.
