Three police officers in Tripura have been fired, and seven people have been arrested following a violent attack on the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala.
The Tripura government made these decisions on December 3 after a group of protesters caused serious damage at the embassy.
A senior police official confirmed that an investigation has been ordered into what happened on Monday.
The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the South Range has been assigned to lead the inquiry.
Sources say the three dismissed officers are sub-inspectors—Dilu Jamatiya, Debabrata Singh, and Zaynul Hasan—who were responsible for the events at the embassy.
Additionally, an Assistant Command officer, Kanti Nath Ghosh, was removed from his post and replaced by Kiran Kumar, the Deputy Superintendent of Police for West Tripura.
The government explained that these actions were necessary because of the officers` failure to handle the situation properly.
After the attack, the police quickly carried out an overnight operation, arresting seven individuals involved in the incident. Authorities said they will decide on further actions after the investigation is completed.
Reports from Indian media say the attack began when a group from the "Hindu Sangram Samiti" arrived at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala.
They wanted to give a letter demanding the Bangladesh government take stronger action against the persecution of minorities. However, the protesters broke into the embassy and caused severe damage, even setting fire to the national flag.
