A legal notice was served to the concerned authorities asking them to withdraw discission of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) to use the Bijoy Android Package Kit (apk) on all imported and made in Bangladesh android mobile phones.
Supreme Court lawyer Ishrat Hasan sent this legal notice on behalf of Bangladesh Cellphone Consumers Association President Mohiuddin Ahmed.
Using Bijoy Keyboard on android phone in a mandatory basis is nothing but an arbitrary decision also BTRC is not authorized to issue such instruction, the notice mentioned.
A special facility is given to a business entity by notification of BTRC which is a clear violation of the Competition Act, 2012 and an offense punishable under Section 24 of the same Act, the legal notice added.
The notice has been sent to Secretary of Posts and Telecommunication division, Chairman of BTRC, Chairman of Bangladesh Competition Commission and Deputy Director of Spectrum Management Department of BTRC.
