The United States is preparing to reinforce its military presence in the Middle East with additional warships and around 4,000 Marines and sailors, according to a media report citing unnamed officials.
The report said the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group is set to be deployed from the US West Coast as part of the buildup.
The group is equipped with advanced capabilities, including F-35 fighter jets, missile systems and amphibious vehicles designed to support potential ground operations.
The planned deployment comes after Washington earlier sent about 2,500 Marines along with the USS Tripoli to the region, as tensions with Iran continue to escalate.
