The government is planning to complete both SSC and HSC examinations by December 31 each year to reduce delays in students’ academic progress, Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon has said.
Speaking at a meeting at the ministry, the minister noted that students currently sit for SSC and HSC exams a year after completing their respective levels, resulting in significant time loss.
“This causes nearly two years of delay in a student’s academic life, which is a major loss for both individuals and the nation,” he said.
He stressed the need for a fair and cheating-free examination environment, adding that teacher involvement and coordination with local administration will be strengthened to ensure transparency.
The minister also instructed authorities to review conditions at upcoming SSC exam centres and investigate delays in administrative action at a school in Nilphamari.
According to decisions taken at the meeting, a common question paper will be introduced for all boards in the 2026 HSC examination.
The proposal to install CCTV cameras in exam halls was also discussed, along with plans to form a high-level committee to assess the possibility of reducing the number of subjects in future public exams.
Senior officials, education board representatives and ministry leaders attended the meeting.
