Nation is observing Independence Day

The nation is observing Independence Day today, marking the historic declaration of independence of Bangladesh in 1971.

The day is being commemorated with due solemnity and patriotic fervour across the country. Government officials, political leaders, and people from all walks of life are paying tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country’s freedom.

The day’s programmes to begin early in the morning with ceremonial gun salutes, followed by the hoisting of the national flag and the laying of wreaths at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar. 

Special prayers, discussions, and cultural events to be observed to honour the spirit of the Liberation War.

Educational institutions, public and private organisations, and diplomatic missions abroad are also observing the day through various programmes, highlighting the significance of independence and the values of sovereignty and national unity.
