A court has declared that there is no approval for the sale of five electrolyte drinks in the market. Arrest warrants have been issued against the owners of these establishments. This order was given by Judge Alauddin Kabir of the Pure Food Court on Tuesday, May 14.
The drinks in question are SMCI Plus, Pran`s Active, Bravo, Aczer Recharge, and Turbo.
Furthermore, the owners of these five companies have been asked to appear in court on June 5, 6, and 9 to explain their stance on the matter. They will have to clarify whether SMCI Plus, Pran`s Active, Bravo, Aczer Recharge, and Turbo are medicines or energy drinks.
Earlier in the day, Mohammad Kamrul Hossain, the empowered safe food inspector of Bangladesh Food Safety Authority, brought this case to the Pure Food Court. At that time, the safe food inspector stated, "None of these drinks have approval."
Kamrul Hossain said, "Even the Drug Administration cannot say that these are medicines, not drinks. Moreover, their advertisements are still running. According to the Food Safety Act, this is a crime. Even though we asked them to stop advertising, no company listened. Therefore, action should be taken against them."
