Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal stated that the trial in the 2009 Pilkhana mutiny case will conclude shortly.
"There was a massive bloodbath in Pilkhana. Completing the inquiry was a massive undertaking. You have already witnessed the preliminary trial, and the final trial will conclude soon as well. It completely depends on judicial proceedings," he stated.
The home minister made the remarks after placing floral wreaths at the Pilkhana martyrs` graves at Banani Military Graveyard on Sunday morning.
In response to the question of whether the relatives of the murdered soldiers will be able to see the final verdict, the home minister said: "I also hope for a speedy trial. But only the judges know when it will end."
"Our court is independent, and we expect a fair trial accordingly," he added.
Bangladesh is observing the 15th martyrdom anniversary of the 2009 Pilkhana carnage that left 74 people, including 57 army officers killed.
Marking the day, tributes were paid to the victims by placing wreaths on their graves at Banani Military Graveyard at 9:08am on Sunday.
On February 25, 2009, several hundred Bangladesh Rifles or BDR (now Border Guard Bangladesh) members staged an armed insurrection at the Darbar Hall of the force`s Pilkhana Headquarters in Dhaka. They killed 74 people, including 57 military officers.
The mutiny ended the next day when the government and the BDR rebels reached an agreement to hand over weaponry, ammunition, and grenades.
