Inu remanded for five days in truck driver murder case

A court has granted a five-day remand for Hasanul Haq Inu, President of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) and former Information Minister, in connection with the murder of truck driver Sujan during the anti-discrimination student movement in the capital‍‍`s Basila area of Mohammadpur.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saiful Islam approved the remand on Tuesday following a hearing.

Inu was produced in court after completing a seven-day remand in another murder case under the New Market Police Station.

During the hearing, the investigating officer petitioned for a ten-day remand in the truck driver murder case, requesting the court to officially show him as arrested in this case. After the hearing, the court approved the request to show him arrested and granted a five-day remand.

Earlier, on the afternoon of August 26, a team from the Detective Branch (DB) arrested Inu from a house in Uttara, Dhaka. The following day, on August 27, he was presented in court, where police sought a seven-day remand for further investigation into the murder of businessman Abdul Wadud, who was shot dead in the New Market area. The court granted the seven-day remand in that case.
