Lal Lian Siam Bom (65), an advisor of the hill armed group Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF), has been apprehended by police in a raid conducted in Bandarban`s Ruma on Wednesday.
Confirming the arrest, Bandarban Superintendent of Police Shaheen Saikat identified Lal Lian as a key figure within the Kuki-Chin group, known as its `guru.` The operation led to a total of 57 arrests in the joint force operation.
Recent incidents in Ruma and Thanchi, including bank robberies, kidnappings of bank managers, and theft of weapons from police and Ansar personnel, have raised concerns about security in the region. While efforts led to the rescue of the bank manager, the stolen weapons and money remain unrecovered, causing alarm within the administration.
Law enforcement agencies are intensifying efforts to prevent further terrorist activities in Ruma and Thanchi, with heightened security measures being implemented across the two upazilas. Security forces have initiated patrols in high-risk areas as part of broader measures to enhance overall security.
